Black Friday Tips & Tricks

Following are some of the best tips (from my experience) when deciding to shop for Black Friday:

-Don’t just depend on Black Friday, visit the stores to see the prices as early as Wednesday. Some items may not have the lowest prices on Black Friday as you may think.

-Shop on the weekend after Black Friday as well as Cyber Monday and even the next day on Tuesday. Some stores may have extra items that they plan to sell and they may still have those on Tuesday. Don’t be compelled to buy everything on Black Friday.

-Prepare a list beforehand so you don’t end up buying cheap things that you don’t really need.

-Pre-order items that can be ordered ahead of time to avoid crowds and long lineups on Black Friday

-Shop using discounted gift cards. You can buy discounted gift cards online and then use them to buy items that you need on Black Friday

-Don’t just buy everything in-store because it’s “fun to do”. Check prices online versus in store and buy from the cheapest retailers. Sometimes the price is cheaper online.

-Avoid bringing your kids with you as they would make you distracted and even make you fall behind in whatever it is that you’re looking to buy.

-The obvious one: sleep early or don’t sleep at all so you can get ahead of lineups.

-If you’re trying to save money and only buying essentials, then use cash instead of card because you’d think twice before spending unnecessarily.

-Look for similar deals around Christmas because you may be able to find even cheaper items around that time.

-To avoid dangerous stampede situations, stand flat against the side of the wall when entering.

-Ask a sales rep which other sales discounts are available that can be combined.

-To avoid fatigue, make sure to have a good healthy meal the evening of the day before you shop.

-Make sure your mobile phone is fully charge to look up directions and discounts.

-Have a buddy or partner to help coordinate time efficiency, to stand in line or find items.

-If possible, plan a schedule to visit stores that are on the same route to shop in a given time frame.

-Have your husband or family member stay home so they’re not to complain or impede on your shopping plans.

-Make sure to focus on discounts that are likely only available during Black Friday, as often the same steep discounts can be found again after Christmas.

-Make sure items in your shopping cart have a clearly visible barcode, situated upwards so the cashier can swiftly scan your items.

-Fill your vehicle the day before your shopping venture, to not worry about non-shopping related tasks.

-Make sure your vehicle is cleaned out and ready to load all your new items.

-For online shopping, carefully plan which cards you plan to use, preferably one that isn’t used for many reoccurring payments.

-Schedule a time to stop and have a break and meal, so you don’t burn yourself out.
