More than half the Islamophobes I come across tell me that Islam oppresses women.
What exactly is oppression? Is oppression a wrapped candy or is oppression an unwrapped candy? Likewise, there are Muslim women who choose to cover themselves up and no, they aren’t oppressed. Oppression is bowing down to the demands of media, it’s to follow a certain clothing style, a way where you have no individuality. That is what oppression is. If I had two candies in my hand, would you ever choose a candy that isn’t wrapped? Or would you choose to take the candy that is untouched, unseen and wrapped? Likewise, Islam protects women from the eyes of strange men. But you call it oppression?
Think for yourself.
